BARR Advisory today announced that Aaron Hamlin has joined the firm’s executive team as cybersecurity consulting practice leader.

Hamlin brings to the role more than ten years of experience building and operationalizing high-impact compliance programs in sectors including government, healthcare, utilities, and education. He helped establish VA’s FedRAMP program—a benchmark initiative in federal cybersecurity—and has supported more than 100 federal authorization efforts.

As practice leader of BARR’s cybersecurity consulting division, Hamlin will leverage his deep technical expertise to help organizations in highly regulated industries transform compliance into a competitive advantage to drive strategic growth.

“Aaron will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic objectives and steering our consulting practice toward long-term growth and innovation in the years ahead for our clients,” said BARR Advisory CEO and managing partner Brad Thies. “We’re thrilled to add his experience and perspective to our leadership team.”

Prior to joining the BARR team, Hamlin was director of the commercial security practice at Armavel, a cybersecurity services firm. He also taught cybersecurity courses at Rose State College and managed information security at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

“Joining a team that delivers world-class cybersecurity services to clients and partners across government, healthcare, financial, and other critical sectors is an incredible opportunity. The impact we make in these communities of practice, where security and compliance are paramount, drives my passion for the work ahead,” Hamlin said.

The news caps off a year of expansion for BARR Advisory, which recently broadened its suite of cybersecurity and compliance solutions to include security engineering services, ISO 42001 gap assessments, and the HITRUST Artificial Intelligence Risk Management (AI RM) Assessment.
