To mark this important milestone, Provation colleagues gathered with President Ankush Kaul, Fortive leadership, and other special guests for a day filled with engaging activities, thought-provoking exercises, and inspiring messages — all designed to honor Provation’s history and spark imagination for the future.

“Provation’s company culture continues to reinvent itself after 30 years,” Kaul said. “The adaptability of this team is incredible. We’ve managed to uphold our legacy while embracing change, which keeps us at the forefront of healthcare innovation. This milestone is not just about where we started but about where we’re heading — and I have no doubt we’ll continue to empower providers to deliver quality healthcare for all.”

Entrepreneurial Energy

Provation’s original co-founders, Sean Benson and Dr. Dan Steinberger, also joined the celebration, sharing the inspiring story of Provation's early days. Dr. Steinberger said, “When we founded Provation, we saw the need for technology that could replace paper records and streamline processes. By focusing on structured reporting, we made it possible to improve documentation without slowing down the physician.”

Steinberger and Benson have credited two foundational elements for Provation’s success: a physician-led medical content team that developed knowledge bases term by term, and an advanced user interface that leveraged AI to simplify the physician workflow. “This approach did for structured reporting what Windows did for desktop computing — it made it accessible and useful,” Dr. Steinberger said.

A Legacy of Innovation and Adaptability

Originally named “cMore Medical Solutions Inc.,” Provation has evolved since 1994 into a leader in clinical documentation. The company has grown to serve more than 5,000 hospitals, surgery centers, and medical offices and 700 physician groups worldwide.

In 2006, Provation became part of Wolters Kluwer Health's Clinical Tools. It was later acquired by Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. in 2018, a partnership that further supported Provation’s growth and led to its acquisition by Fortive Corporation in 2021.

Fortive President & CEO Jim Lico attended the event virtually along with Fortive leaders Tami Newcombe, President & CEO of Advanced Healthcare Solutions, and Olumide Soroye, President & CEO of Intelligent Operating Solutions.

“We couldn’t be more fortunate to have Provation join the Fortive family,” Lico said. “What we found in Provation is a rich history, best-in-class products, and a deep commitment to customer service. This company embodies what it means to deliver outstanding solutions, elevating our collective impact on healthcare.”

Newcombe and Soroye echoed these sentiments, reflecting on Provation’s impact on its customers, its exceptional company culture, and its contributions to Fortive Corporation.

“I’ve heard firsthand how doctors commend Provation’s solutions for allowing them to spend more time with their patients,” Newcombe said. “I’ve watched this team push each other and push themselves to honor that promise. We’re going to build on that legacy to deliver even better tools and services. Your dedication has truly stood the test of time.”

“The work you do at Provation empowers physicians to deliver high quality and safe outcomes for patients,” Soroye said. “While scaling the company at a remarkable pace, you’ve managed to preserve an entrepreneurial culture infused with a passion for high-quality patient outcomes and customer success. You have enriched our culture at Fortive with talent and a range of best practices on how to run a software business, delight customers, and deliver outstanding results. Thank you for what you do for the world, and for continuing to nurture an outstanding company culture and an amazing workplace. You are all part of something special. Excited to see what comes next at Provation!”

Expanding the Vision into Anesthesia

The event also welcomed Dr. Mani Vindhya, co-founder of iProcedures, which was acquired by Provation in 2021 to expand its reach into the anesthesia market with the #1 Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS), now known as Provation® iPro.

Designed by practicing anesthesiologists, Provation iPro is the world’s first mobile, cloud-based AIMS software. Since its inception, Provation iPro AIMS has been used to document over 4 million anesthesia procedures in more than 875 facilities.

Consistently named a Black Book Leader and “Best in KLAS,” more than 23,000 anesthesia providers use Provation iPro to improve staff satisfaction, streamline documentation, boost patient safety, and gain cost savings.

Looking Ahead

For 30 years, Provation has been dedicated to delivering top-of-the-line products and services that empower healthcare providers to connect with their patients and deliver high-quality healthcare. This significant milestone reflects the hard work and dedication of all who have contributed to Provation’s success over the decades. Central to this achievement are the strong partnerships cultivated with customers — relationships built on trust, collaboration, and a mutual commitment to enhancing clinical documentation and patient care. These partnerships have been vital in guiding Provation’s continuous improvement and the development of solutions that adapt to the ever-changing needs of healthcare professionals.

As Provation looks to the future, the company remains committed to its mission: to empower providers to deliver quality healthcare for all. This dedication will continue to drive Provation’s journey for the next thirty years and beyond.
