Redwire Corporation (NYSE: RDW), a leader in space infrastructure for the next generation space economy, announced today the opening of a regional office in Warsaw, expanding the company’s European operations to deliver world-class space solutions to a global customer base.
Redwire’s Poland office will provide specification and design as well as assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T) support for the company’s International Berthing and Docking Mechanism (IBDM). Redwire’s IBDM technology will enable autonomous spacecraft docking for the Gateway lunar space station’s International Habitat (I-Hab), and iterations of this system could also support other elements of the Gateway as well as low Earth orbit (LEO) spacecraft and commercial space stations. Additionally, Redwire will partner with Polish universities, medical research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies to leverage the company’s trailblazing microgravity capabilities on the International Space Station.
With a key objective to recruit local talent, Redwire has hired Marcin Dobrowolski as General Manager of the Polish office. Dobrowolski brings more than a decade of experience in the aerospace industry, with a proven track record of leadership and operational excellence. Prior to joining Redwire, Dobrowolski held leadership roles at PIAP Space and Thales Alenia Space. Dobrowolski has a deep expertise in mechanical engineering and space robotics, along with experience leading major projects for commercial and government space programs.
“We are excited to expand our presence in Europe to support increased demand from international customers and build on our existing heritage and legacy in the region,” said Redwire Chairman and CEO Peter Cannito. “Redwire’s new Poland office will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research and technology development while contributing to critical systems such as the IBDM.”
Redwire’s Polish office will help create new opportunities for Poland to participate in European, U.S., and global space programs. Mirroring Redwire’s broad and diverse portfolio, the Polish office will pursue civil, commercial, and national security-related activities. Redwire is excited to contribute to Poland’s growing and dynamic space economy.
The expansion builds upon Redwire’s existing European operations, which has more than 40 years of spaceflight heritage developing spacecraft platforms and innovative microgravity technology for game-changing European Space Agency (ESA) programs. Leveraging its legacy of innovation and excellence, Redwire continues to support trailblazing ESA missions such as Skimsat, a technology demonstration mission that utilizes Redwire’s European-built Phantom spacecraft that is designed to operate in very low Earth orbit; the IBDM for the I-Hab; and the Proba-3 mission, a dual satellite mission that will demonstrate precision formation flying and will study the Sun’s corona.
