The Cyber Guild, a 501(c)(3) Public Charity dedicated to celebrating diversity in cybersecurity, announced the winners of its fourth annual Recognition Awards, which honors national cybersecurity leaders for their contributions to the industry. Winners were announced at an award ceremony on Oct. 1 in Arlington, Virginia.

The Recognition Awards program is driven by peer recognition among cyber experts and aims to honor individuals who emulate the Cyber Guild’s mission of advancing cybersecurity as part of everyday living.

“The awards represent peer recognition for the incredible work of cybersecurity leaders across our nation, by individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing cybersecurity as an integral part of our everyday lives,” said Teresa Shea, co-chair of the Cyber Guild. “Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to us all.”

The Cyber Guild recognized Founder and Chair Emeritus, Marybeth Borgwing, with a Legacy Leader award.

The 2024 categories and honorees are:

  • Ambassador – Sue Gordon, president, Gordon Ventures and former principal deputy director of national intelligence
  • Changemaker – Camille Stewart Gloster, CEO, CAS Strategies, and former deputy national cyber director
  • Warrior – Rosa Bolger, VP and distinguished engineer, cyber defense and technology, IBM
  • Rising Leader – Mary Brooks, foreign affairs officer, Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, Department of State
  • Champion – Tennisha Martin, founder and executive director, Black Girls Hack
  • Alliance Leader – Eric Belardo, founder and executive director, RAICES Cyber
  • Legacy Leader – Mary Beth Borgwing, president, Standish Cyber Corporation and founder of The Cyber Guild

The honorees were selected by a group of Cyber Guild Luminaires, an invitation-only member group of the nation’s brightest, most experienced leaders in cyber.

“This year's honorees embody the spirit of this organization by advancing cybersecurity as an integral part of their work,” said Tatyana Bolton, chair of the awards’ judging panel, and security policy manager at Google. “I can personally attest, through years of engagement across the cyber landscape, that these awardees represent the pinnacle of cyber excellence - they all inspire us to think bigger, reach higher, and never give up. Congratulations to them all.”

“As our society grows increasingly reliant on digital infrastructure, it’s essential that the cyber community celebrates and learns from one another’s accomplishments,” said Debbie Sallis, executive director of the Cyber Guild. “With the right level of support and leadership development, women and other underrepresented groups in cybersecurity can help lead the way for improving the world’s cyber defenses. This is why we are delighted to launch the pilot of the Cyber Guild inclusive mentoring program for rising women professionals in the DMV.”
