Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), a global leader in smart home technology, is excited to announce the expanded features and capabilities of its QuickSet 7 SDK Release and QuickSet Cloud services at the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this January.
QuickSet platform continues to lead the way in delivering personalized entertainment and smart home experiences, offering a multi-protocol approach in a single software package that ensures seamless integration and control of various smart devices within the home.
Building on years of success on leading Smart TV brands, QuickSet 7 offers expanded monetization opportunities through personalization and increased engagement time. The platform now supports a wider range of content sources and categories covering video and audio consumption across leading platforms and provides intelligent signals to target the best audience at the right moment for improved monetization, driving higher brand awareness and engagement on the big screen.
QuickSet 7 also introduces new capabilities as a smart home as a service platform, adding OpenThread Border Router Host services, and upgrades to Matter Controller with Multi-Admin, Matter Bridge, and Zigbee Coordinator services.
QuickSet Cloud integrates seamlessly with QuickSet 7, with the new upgrades to QuickSet Cloud’s AI powered device fingerprinting and discovery, trained on a proprietary device knowledge graph, providing a comprehensive framework for discovery, control, and personalization for all devices in the home. QuickSet Cloud is already serving billions of device discovery requests globally each year, with new trained AI models rolling out regularly to enable new use cases in the smart home.
One of the key highlights of QuickSet Cloud is its enhanced support for the QuickSet Widget family, including the new UE72Y and UE72X models. These multi-protocol connectivity modules offer turnkey and managed connectivity and compute in a range of home appliances, and in the latest version introduce advanced features such as Edge AI processing, video stream decoding, and a complete smart home dashboard with QuickSet homeSense Technology through a full featured QuickSet 7 implementation.
In a major update, QuickSet 7 also introduces QuickSet homeSense technology, as a foundational block to home intelligence, which learns and adapts to home environments to unlock personalized experiences in energy management, entertainment control and advertising, all on-device, always ensuring user privacy. Private by Design, this technology tackles roadblocks in delivering monetizable experiences powered by on-device intelligence.
Here are some key highlights:
- Multi-Protocol Support: QuickSet 7 and QuickSet Cloud support a range of communication protocols in the home, including Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Thread and Infrared. This allows it to interact with a wide range of smart home devices and ecosystems.
- Device Knowledge Graph: QuickSet Cloud leverages a vast knowledge graph that includes over 25 million unique fingerprints across nearly 1 million devices from 13,000 consumer brands. This proprietary and fast-growing dataset powers a range of AI models delivering widely adopted as well as new services on QuickSet Cloud.
- Control Engines: The platform includes various control engines, such as Control+ Engine with IP, Zigbee, Matter, AirCon, Video & Audio Content Services, as well as HDMI services. These engines enable an on-device discovery and control framework of entertainment and smart home devices through standard or proprietary protocols.
- Interoperability as a Service: QuickSet Cloud offers interoperability as a service, addressing the challenges manufacturers face with compatibility and integration. This regularly updated service ensures that products are compatible with existing hubs, smart speakers, and home automation platforms as they evolve.
- QuickSet Edge Intelligence with Quick Cloud Scalability: QuickSet combines edge intelligence with cloud scalability, providing a robust platform for managing smart home devices. This includes secure cloud communications, remote access, offline control, and a management dashboard for network device cataloging and monitoring.
- Intelligent Video & Audio Content Events & Personalization: QuickSet 7 enables private and on-device learning from activity across devices in the home including video and audio content habits and preferences, allowing for targeted recommendations at the right time.
- Enhanced support for nevo®.ai Agents: QuickSet’s pre-integration with nevo.ai offers a framework for supporting on-going services on a connected device (Smart TV, thermostat, hub). This AI-powered agent addresses the complete lifecycle of a connected product from on-boarding, new feature introductions, troubleshooting and optimizations needed as home ecosystems continue to evolve. The latest enhancements in nevo.ai offer proactive recommendations on a Smart TV to increase adoption and engagement of brand services, address new and upcoming use cases on smart thermostats, expand home dashboard for Matter Controller in QuickSet, and offer personalization capabilities for QuickSet homeSense.
These features make QuickSet SDK and QuickSet Cloud a versatile and powerful platform for integrating and managing smart home devices, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience, and blending entertainment and smart home experiences into one.
