ZEDEDA to Present a Maritime Edge Computing Case Study at KubeCon North America 2024

KubeConZEDEDA, the leader in edge management and orchestration, today announced its participation in KubeCon North America 2024, taking place Nov. 12-15 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

What: “The Perfect Storm: Production Kubernetes Running on Ocean Vessels,” a presentation that provides insight into how a leading global shipping company deployed a Kubernetes-based packet core application to support its connected device strategy across ocean vessels, overcoming the unique challenges of operating technology at sea.

Who: Raghushankar Vatte, ZEDEDA’s Field CTO and VP of Strategy.

Where: Salt Palace Convention Center, Level 2, Room 250 A, Salt Lake City, Utah.

When: 2:10 pm MST on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

“Running Kubernetes in ocean environments presents unique challenges that require a different approach than traditional deployments,” Vatte said. “When you’re managing thousands of three-node clusters versus a few 1,000-node clusters, factors like intermittent connectivity and remote IT resources become critical considerations. This session shares how to build a scalable architecture that addresses these challenges in distributed maritime environments.”

The session will highlight how EVE, an open-source edge operating system developed within LF Edge from the Linux Foundation, provides the ideal infrastructure for deploying Kubernetes at the edge by addressing key requirements in security, autonomy and scale for compute resources outside of data centers.

KubeCon North America, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s flagship conference, brings together adopters and technologists from leading open-source and cloud-native communities. Vatte will be available for media and analyst meetings at the event on Nov. 12-13. ZEDEDA will be hosting conference attendees at booth A8.
